The Clear Fork Chapter of TU stocks Apple Creek

Oct 13, 2012 is a day I will remember for a long time....that was the day the Clear Fork Chapter of Trout Unlimited along with the City of Wooster stocked Apple Creek with Rainbows....I caught and released 17 rainbow trout that day and there were many others also who were joining in on the action....there was a fly fishing clinic and some of the Senior Flyfishermen were instructing beginning fly fisherman about the art of fly casting as well as tackle and tips.....they held this event on the 13th and 14th of October...and from what I heard and read on the fishing reports....everyone had a great time learning how to fly fish.....

November 17th is also a day I will remember for a long time.....this was the last stocking of Rainbow Trout on Apple Creek for 2012......I caught and released 8 big bows that day and there were many others fly fishing that joined in on the fun....It's wonderful place to go to and clear your mind of the everyday work pressure environments - a great place to relax and catch some fish..

Apple Creek is easily assessable by going into Wooster and getting on Bowman St.....then making a turn on S. Beaver st....that will take you directly to Freelander Road......and when you get to Freelander road go all the way till the end of the Road and you will see a sign "GrosJean Park"

There are serval paths to take but they all lead to the river and you can go either upstream or downstream..

The little Gem in Wooster Ohio for Trout Fishing

Back in May of 2012 I was online searching for places to fish for trout...and I came upon a couple of articles about Apple Creek in Wooster Ohio....not living to far from there I went down one day just to check it out....I didn't think to much of it at the time because it was a smaller creek that I am not used to fishing.

Most trout fisherman have already heard about all the Lake Erie Tributaries like Rocky River, Chagrin, Grand River and Conneaute and a few other lesser known streams that go into Lake Erie....most have heard of the Mad River and Clear Fork but very few have ever heard of Apple Creek as a place to fish for Trout.

So in May of 2012 I packed my fly fishing gear and headed down to Apple Creek to fish for a day....as luck would have it I hooked and landed 2 nice brown trout and 1 rainbow trout on the first ever visit to the creek.....it took me about 2 hours of fishing to catch all the trout...and in between the catching of the trout I also caught creek chubs, bluegills, a few small mouth bass and a few rock bass.....

Since that 1st visit....I call Apple Creek my favorite place to fish when all the major rivers and streams are blown out after a heavy rain.......Apple Creek is a spring fed creek and will support trout all year long and it remains cool even in the heat of the summer months.
